2008 RESULTS

Thanks to all of the runners, cyclists and their pacers and support crews!  Despite some “roadblocks,” all was taken in stride (as ultra runners tend to do) and I believe everyone had a good time.

I am sorry that some of you were hassled by the park ranger between Easton and Thorp.   “Next year” we will get the stinkin’ state parks permit.  I didn’t read the fine lines and the only response I got last year and this year when I talked to the Easton and Gingko stations about what we were doing and to make sure the trail was open all the way through was “You’re crazy.  Have fun.”  Well…I guess that’s what you call a sharp learning curve as far as RD’ing goes.  Thanks to you all for being my guinea pigs J

Whoohoo for bonus miles!  More than a few people took wrong turns after Army West due to trail markings put down by another group…again I didn’t even once think that someone else would be out there…and again everyone had a good attitude about it all.  “Next year” we’ll be more skilled about the trail markings.  Thanks to Jay who marked the course up to McClellan Butte trail.

We had the best free crews money could buy!
After crewing Tim Lofton the first half, Jon Yoon cooked us all breakfast and provided an ice bath at the finish.  He also got in a marathon’s worth of mileage.

Jane Herzog’s crew Ray Shaw and Rich Menzel gave us more warm food and a place to change at the finish line (their camper).  Also provided us with COLD brewskies … mmm breakfast!

My family – Judy, Kaitlan and Dick – came out to crew too.  This was mom’s second year and Kaitlan and Dick’s rookie year – thanks guys!!

Jennifer Martineau and the Stoyles/Barnes clans provided additional shuttle from McClellan Butte Trail to Easton.

Thomas Tan and Gary (Tim Lofton’s other crew) came out to cheer us on along the trail and at the finish line; they also got in some bonus miles in Vantage.

Dave Russel came all the way from Oregon to crew Ryan on his second NB2V.  Yay for the returners who knew what they were getting into and still came!

Linda and Sue Lawson crewed our only cyclists, Tom, Stan and Seth Lawson and Jay McTaggart to the finish.
